Ashe Academy

The Ashe Academy is a performing arts school and edutainment institute which provides training in the performing arts and edutainment to young people between the ages of 9 and 25, as well as workshops and specialized training to those who influence young people’s behavior such as their parents, teachers, guidance counselors, youth, social and community workers and ministers. Ashe Academy offers numerous opportunities throughout the entire year for training, fun, enjoyment and development. This includes international tours, a season of performance, special competitions, a banquet; cultural exchanges; special social outreach fairs and rallies.

The Ashe Academy Program consists of:

PERFORMING ARTS TRAINING

Students, aged 9 – 25, from various communities and backgrounds, are trained three times weekly in singing, acting, dancing, drumming, musical theatre and “edutainment”.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT


Edutainment training and activity has proven to be an on-going, successful method of imparting information on social issues, in developing a strong sense of self, and in helping to keep youths engaged in positive activities that enhance their own development, while benefiting the wider society.


OUTREACH

Twenty (20) young residents of the SOS Children’s Village in St. Andrew are trained on Saturday mornings to develop their talents in singing, acting, dancing, drumming and musical theatre, while being guided in how to love and appreciate themselves;

SUMMER SCHOOL

Since inception, Ashe has done major developmental work via summer schools in various communities throughout Kingston, including Nannyville, Drewsland, Marverly, Rae Town, Hannah Town, Maxfield Park, Jones Town and Seaview Gardens. In addition, the group’s “Eduatinment” style has been successfully executed among students from across the Corporate Area, who participate in summer schools held at the Ashe Centre and at high schools such as Immaculate Conception and YWCA.
